Capitect provides advisors the ability to map securities to their defined asset classes. You must define asset classes before mapping securities to them.
Map securities
This section shows securities that have not yet been indirectly mapped by Morningstar categories.
- Go to Settings → Asset Classes → Click 'Add Set +' (or edit an existing set by clicking edit next to the set you'd like to edit).
- Select the 'Map Securities' tab.
- Click the drop-down arrow to the right of each security you would like to map. It will list the asset classes that you have previously defined.
Map Securities with a Mapped Category
This section shows securities indirectly mapped by Morningstar categories. The Morningstar category mapping can be overridden by selecting the asset class from the pull-down menu.
Custom Asset Allocation
Clicking the drop-down arrow to the right of each security will also provide the 'Custom Asset Allocation' option. This will allow for allocating securities across multiple asset classes and is useful for blended/balanced funds.
Selecting Asset Classes
The asset classes that are created can be viewed at the firm level, as well as the client level.
The firm-level asset classes can be viewed by going to Reports → Investments. Next to 'Asset Allocation', it defaults to Morningstar. Click the drop-down arrow next to Morningstar to select the custom asset class.
The custom asset classes can also be viewed at the client level under Reports → Holdings.
